Modify Contact Picklist: Group, Stage, Lead Source

* The following instructions apply to System Administrators only *

You can group contacts in the CRM to make it easier to focus your reports and marketing.  You can track the stage of your leads and clients in the CRM to make it easier to focus your reports and marketing. You can track the lead source for your contacts in the CRM as well. The group, stage, and lead source lists are customizable; you can add, remove, or edit the options in these picklists. 

CLASSIC

To change the group drop down menu:

1. Click on Your Name in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click on Setup.
3. Click on Customize on the left under App Setup.
4. Click on Customize your Contacts tab (or Contacts on the left).
5. Click on Add a custom field to contacts (or Fields on the left).
6. Click on Group.
7. Under the Picklist section, you will see all the drop down options.
8. To add a new group, click the New button.
9. Enter the new group (or groups) in the box.
10. Check the box next to Record Type Name.
11. Click the Save button.

 
LIGHTNING
To change the group drop down menu:

1. Click on the Gear Icon in the top right corner of the screen.
2. Click on Setup.
3. Click on the Object Manager Tab on the left.
4. Click on Contacts (or search Contacts on the right).
5. Click on Fields and Relationships on the left.
6. Click on Group or (search for Group in the Quick Find on the right).
7. Under the Picklist section, you will see all the drop down options.
8. To add a new group, click the New button.
9. Enter the new group (or groups) in the box.
10. Check the box next to Record Type Name.
11. Click the Save button.


TIPS:
  • The same steps apply for stage and lead source; simply click those options instead of group.
  • You can also edit or delete any of the options in the list.
  • Click the Reorder button to alphabetize or choose the order of the stages.
